The Writing Salon Faculty - James Nave
James Navé is a poet, performer, and educator. He has memorized over 600 poems and has been performing his poetry and the poetry of others on stage for over twenty years. His work, rich with imagery, reflects a playful maturity, an intelligent curiosity, and is driven by a keen sense of narrative.

His poetry has appeared in the North Carolina Literary Review, the Asheville Literary Review, Summit Magazine, the Taos News, Chokecherries, Heartstone Journal, The Dirty Goat, River Oak Review, Schuylkill Valley Journal of the Arts, Willard and Maple, Red Wheelbarrow, Phoebe, Tightrope, Griffin, South Carolina Review, and Poetry Slam Redux. 

He is one of the co-founders of Poetry Alive! and has been active member of the spoken word movement since 1991. He has presented writing workshops and performances throughout the U.S., as well as in international schools in Europe, Africa, Asia, and South America.

He is featured in the award-winning documentary Slam Nation and is the Poetry Slam Master for the biannual Leaf Poetry Slam at the Lake Eden Arts Festival (www.theleaf.com).

From 1995-2003, he co-produced and co-taught The Artist's Way Creativity Camp with Julia Cameron author of The Artist's Way. He has also taught in The Oklahoma Scholar-Leadership Enrichment Program (OSLEP) at the University of Oklahoma, and has conducted Imaginative Storm Creativity workshops for companies including Adidas, Timex, Ogilvy, Frito-Lay, Mida Foods Manila, and Outward Bound.

He is the founder and co-director of The Imaginative Storm Writing Salon based in Taos, NM (www.thewritingsalon.net). Navé holds an MFA in poetry from Vermont College and is a certified Appreciative Inquiry facilitator.
